Recently, at the Afeef Road Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, volunteer doctors from several renowned Chinese hospitals provided free medical consultations and performed over a hundred charitable surgeries as part of the "2025 China Volunteer Doctors Africa Medical Consultation Public Welfare Action and International Volunteer Medical Activity (People's Heart Action)," creating miraculous changes in many lives. Eyebright, an innovative domestic manufacturer of ophthalmic medical devices, participated by donating its self-developed high-order aspheric intraocular lenses and dual-focus intraocular lenses, delivering high-quality Chinese ophthalmic solutions and bringing more light to people worldwide.

On the morning of August 7, the opening ceremony of the initiative was held at the Afeef Road Hospital, attended by Ethiopian President Abiy Ahmed, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai, Ethiopian Minister of Health Mekdes Daba, and other senior officials from both countries, along with diplomats, enterprise representatives, and healthcare personnel. Over 30 Chinese volunteer doctors and volunteers were also present.

Following the ceremony, the volunteer doctors engaged in organized and intensive work, embodying the spirit of "supporting the needy, providing free medical consultations, disaster relief, and foreign aid." President Abiy Ahmed, the First Lady, and many citizens received health checks. Professors Yao Xiaoming and Qi Wei performed surgeries on cataract patients, implanting high-order aspheric intraocular lenses and dual-focus intraocular lenses. Patients not only regained their sight but also benefited from China's innovative, professional ophthalmic solutions.

This African medical public welfare action is a vivid demonstration of China's medical innovation reaching the world.
